In manga it was clearly shown that he remembered his past and how he was treated when he was a kid, so he wanted to see his way of dealing with kids. This duo is straight up under appreciated and they have a great dynamic, I can even claim that they are much closer than they seem to be but you guys are not ready for that conversation.
