Femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) is a condition in which there is abnormal contact between the femur (thigh bone) and the acetabulum (hip socket) during hip movement. This contact can lead to damage of the joint, including #cartilagedamage and #labraltears. Risk factors for FAI include a congenital hip abnormalities (cam or pincer deformity) and repetitive movements that put stress on the hip joint, such as in athletes who participate in sports that involve a lot of running or cutting motions. Symptoms of #FAI may include pain in the hip or groin, stiffness, and difficulty moving the hip joint. In some cases, the pain may radiate down the leg. Diagnosis of FAI typically involves a physical examination, imaging tests, and possibly a hip arthroscopy. Treatment options for FAI include: ✅ Physical therapy to improve strength and flexibility ✅ Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) to reduce pain and inflammation ✅ Injections of corticosteroids or other substances to reduce inflammation ✅ Surgery (hip arthroscopy) may be considered in cases where conservative treatment options have not been successful. #hippain #surgeon #arthroscope
