Rosalie Harlow Reyes Manny and I could not agree on a name for our little girl. He would pitch something and I would veto it. Then I would pitch something and he would veto it. We wanted her name to be beautiful and special and mean something to us. This is the story behind her name. My grandmother was a big fan of Natalie Wood in the movie Gypsy Rose Lee. She loved the name so much that when she had my mom she gave her the middle name, Rosalie inspired by Rose Lee. I thought what a great way to honor my mom and my grandma with the name Rosalie. But wait, it doesn’t stop there! When we shorten it to Rosie, we are also honoring my Tia Mary who was so proud to be one of the original “Rosie” the Riveter‘s. I get to honor three of my favorite Lathees in one name. Manny loved the name Harlow and fought hard for it. At first I wasn’t sure about it but then I read the meaning of Harlow in our baby name book and I was sold, “protector of the people”. I would hope that my daughter grows up to be someone who loves all people and would be bold and courageous and be the type of person to protect someone else. @Manwell Reyes
