The idea of body building is to find the hardest way to do an exercise. What I mean by this is, unlike most things in life if your doing a physical task your use all the muscles in your body to complete that task. In body building we are most of the time trying to isolate individual muscles and keep the most tension and deepest contraction on said muscle. The dumbbell press is stable exercise but often performed incorrect by those new to weight training. In my opinion this takes tension away from chest and places it on to the triceps.
