How to spend the perfect day in Porto if you’re visiting for the first time 🇵🇹🎉 1. Livraria Lello, one of the most beautiful bookstores in the world and the inspiration behind Harry Potter’s library in Hogwarts. The line gets long so get there early and buy tickets online. @livraria.lello 2. Igreja do Carmo, one of Porto’s oldest and beautiful buildings known for its wall of traditional hand painted blue and white azulejos or tiles. 3. Estação de São Bento, one of Portugal’s most striking train stations housing over 20,000 tiles that reflect the history of Portugal. 4. For lunch you’re going to head to Cafe Santiago to try Porto’s most famous typical dish, the Francesinha. This monstrosity of a dish is made up of bread, cured ham, sausage, steak, and covered with melted cheese and a tomato and beer sauce. @cafe_santiago 5. You’re going to need a long walk after this so make your way to the upper part of the picturesque Dom Luis I Bridge and cross over to Gaia, where Port wine is king. 6. For the best views you’re going to take the teleférico, or cable cars one way and take in the incredible views. @telefericodegaia 7. Port wine tasting because, when in Porto…We tried Quevedo and really enjoyed it. @quevedoport From here you’re going to walk along the riverside back towards the bridge and cross over from the downstairs part. 8. You can either take a breather back at your hotel until dinner or wait for sunset along the riverside. It’s incredible. There are tons of little outdoor bars you can have a drink at. 9. For dinner you’re going to head to Tasco, a lovely restaurant serving Mediterranean and Portuguese dishes with an elevated spin.
