Guess what? Did you think proteas were an Aussie native flower? They actually originate from South Africa! But they are apart of the same family as many Aussie natives like Banksias Regardless these king proteas are so beautiful! To keep these blooms happy and living longer you’ll want to; ✨remove the bottom leaves. The stem is very strong so you’ll need some sharp pair of secateurs to cut the stem on an angle and up towards the bloom. ✨Proteas like to drink a lot of water so my tip if you want them to last 10-14days trim the stems regularly. That’s why I start off by keeping them long. They’ll shorten up as I cut them throughout the week. ✨Place a bit of vendor and sugar to your water to feed to plant and reduce bacteria forming. ✨Also make sure your vase is sturdy because these flowers are notorious for falling over. ✨Pro tip If black spots appear on the leaves it means its not place in a place with enough light.
