Everyone can play their part in making trains, tubes, and stations, a hostile place for sexual harassment and assault. We’re not asking people to police the railway, that’s our job. But a bystander’s small actions such as offering someone your seat if you notice them looking uncomfortable, alerting an officer, or reporting an incident to us can make an enormous difference. Body worn footage shows the moment British Transport Police officers intercepted a train as it arrived at Reading station, after recieving a report of sexual assault. Officers swiftly identified the man and arrested him. Edgar Junior, 50, and of Barnsdale Road, Reading, pleaded guilty to sexual assault at Reading Crown Court on 12 January. On 17 July he was sentenced to 20 months in prison and handed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
