A basket full of old varieties of pears kindly gifted to me by my ardent follower @drhermine made me try out my late grandma’s very simple canning recipe with Beau: The peeled and quartered pears are stacked with half a cinnamon stick in these German 1 litre WECK jars. Six tablespoons of sugar are added to each jar before we filled it to the brim with tab water. Since this is a new generation of jars in comparison to the ones my late grandmother used we at this point deviated from the original recipe which stated to only fill the glasses 3/4 with water. Turns out by cooking (or is it baking?) it for approximately 40 minutes at 180 degrees Celsius until strings of air bubbles start to rise from the bottom of the jars quite the amount of water evaporated 🤭 The rubber rings between the jars and the glas lids keep a vacuum while the jars cool off for half an hour in the closed oven and then under a cloth to protect the jars from draft until they are cooled down completely. ❤️Turns out they tasted exactly like I remember them 🥹 #cozy #calming #comforting #relaxing #asmr #pear #pears #preserving #preserves #canning #einwecken #canningseason #cottagecore #vintagevibes #vintagestylenotvintagevalues #vintagekitchen #gaycouplegoals #fyp
