A light dusting of snow, a hat and a pair of gloves - this is all you need to turn Djouce into the perfect winter day hike 🥾 The route from Ballinastoe to Djouce is one of my longstanding favourite trails and an absolute must-hike during the winter months (especially if there’s a chance of snow or a clear sunrise). With a mix of lake views, boardwalk forest trails clear peaks, Djouce has a little bit of something for every type of hiker. This, alongside Lugnaquilla, is probably the trail I’ve hiked the most in my life. It has a hold on me that I can’t fully explain, but it always brings me clarity of mind. Need to Know Info: ⚠️ Hiking in winter can be challenging and dangerous. Only embark on hikes and trails you’re comfortable with and expect difficult conditions. 🏔️ County: Wicklow 🏔️ Duration: 3-4 hours 🏔️ Distance: 10km 🏔️ Elevation Gain: 400 metres 🏔️ Difficulty: Moderate 🏔️ Starting Point: Ballinastoe Car Park 🏔️ What to Bring: Warm clothes, waterproof gear, water, navigational tools, a flask of hot tea, snacks and good company. Save this video for your next winter adventure ⛄️ #irishhikes #winterhiking #hikingireland #wicklowhikes

My Sundays have been looking a bit different the last couple of months… Hiking has taken a backseat to marathon training, gym training and @the coffee run Naas. However, I've still been able to squeeze in the occasional outdoor escape, even if it's only a fifteen-minute dip or a short forest walk. This is going to be the case for the next five months too as I'm starting my PT course two weeks after the Amsterdam marathon. Now, this doesn't mean that I won't be hiking. It just means that I've to temporarily spend the majority of my time on other activities and work a little bit harder to get outside and explore. Always remember that your priorities are allowed to change to facilitate growth. The most important thing to me right now is engaging in the activities I love that fuel my long-term goals. So that is what I will continue to do for the foreseeable. #outdoorireland #runningireland #irishruns

The Bloody Bridge is yet another great reason to get yourself to the Mourne Mountains. Although this exact spot isn’t found at the bridge, it’s easy enough to spot along the trail. With beautiful views all the way down to the Irish Sea, this is the perfect spot to cool off at the end of a long hike. 🏔️County: Down 🏔️Depth: About 2 metres when we visited the swimming spot (always depth check before jumping in) 🏔️Accessibility: Found along the trail just up from Bloody Bridge 🏔️Location on Google Maps: Search “Blood Bridge Car Park” and follow the trail up from there 🏔️Good to Know Info: It’s not easy to exit the water and it can be a dangerous place to swim 🏔️Best Nearby Activities: Cycling the Island on a rental bike Save this video for your next road trip up North! #outdoorlife #swimmingspot #discoverni #wildswimming
