This is especially something to pay attention to if you're a people pleaser, or someone who was immediately offered solutions rather than comfort growing up when you were upset or in distress. Our emotions exist for a reason! Even when we don't want to feel them. I am very dissociated today, and instead of immediately implementing intense techniques to try to pull mysef out of it, I'm understanding that my brain is trying to disconnect for a reason and will do better with just having a slow, low demand day (I understand not everyone has the privilege to choose that though). Ofcourse this doesn't mean I will sit and dissociate for days, it just mean that I will honour the feeling and not try to strong arm my brain into a different state unnecessarily! #MentalHealth #dissociation #autisticadult
