Let’s talk about this. Am I the only one that has experienced or is experiencing this? It’s so conflicting because I know this is what I want, but I’m also dealign with the very human emotion of being tired. But remembering to practice gratitude and be present has really been helping ground me. You know I go deep on you once every 3 weeks, so let’s get back to regular programming. I literally had one day in between London and New York. It was a lot, but I had to make it happen, because it’s not everyday you get to go on a work trip to #newyorkcity to attend a seminar for women of colour in sales. It was such a great opportunity that when it came my way, I took it with gratitude. Getting ready for the trip made me a bit anxious because I knew I had to serve looks. Typically, I go to work in super laid back clothes, but I knew I had to step it up a bit. Honestly editing this video and watching it back really triggered me on another level. I understand what it is to be black in a predominantly white country but when it gets to the level where my I’m being obviously discriminated against based on my nationality, then a conversation needs to be had loudly! That day, it sunk in for me, that it doesn’t matter where you run to, just the fact that you have a Nigerian passport or you’re of Nigerian desent will count against you. That day, I cried. That day, I decided that ny children will never face discrimination like this or miss out on life changing career opportunities just because of the color of their passport. My first Palmwine fest was in Lagos but this London edition still felt like my first! It was that good. The line up was crazy good! I mean, where else do you get to see Show Dem Camp, Lady Donli, Ladipoe, Davido and The Cavemen all in one nightttttt? I have been to three concerts this year and will do vlogs about the remaining two soon, but this one had to be my favourite. I cannot wait for the Lagos Palmwine Fest in December. Whew! It has been a crazy six weeks. back to back. In those six weeks, i’ve been to three countries (maybe four 👀👀), turned 30, threw an owambe themed party, maintained beauty, met a celebrity and I’m still standing! With the amount of travelling and things that were happening, i had to find time to take care of myself which meant prioritising my physical and mental health over my socials. But trust me when I say I was vlogginggg! Because there is no way i wasn’t going to share all of my wild experiences and stories with you! So lets start with London, me preparing to see one of my favourite musical duo, Show Dem Camp and also preparing to go to New York for the first time with literally a one day break between the trips. I was in London for my baby brothers graduation and to also attend Palm Wine Festival🌴, but I also had to get my hair done. I don’t get my hair professionally done in Dublin, because if you’re black and you live here you know it’s a choice between shitty hair stylists or very expensive hair stylists, so I usually get it done when I go London or back home. This time, I popped into one aunties shop on the high street and let’s just say I fried my hair. Everytime I sit under that hair drier, i wonder why I do this to myself, then i remember, Eve ate that damn apple! Anyways guys, stick with me, because a lot of Vlogs are coming your way.
