A wee trip down to Greenock this evening, braved the cold to see the final cruise ship of the year, to visir Greenock’s Ocean Terminal. The Pacific World which is the name of the ship, set sail around 8pm with assitance from tugboat Svitzer Warden, pulling from her stern on the starboard side of the ship. The ships next port of call is Liverpool where its due to arrive tomorrow. Sadly no horn blasts from her departure this evening. The ship was delivered new to Princess Cruises in 1995, named as the “Sun Princess” and was used in the 90’s revival TV show “The Love Boat The Next Wace” from 1998 to 1999. Today Loganair operated their final scheduled SAAB 340B flight to Islay this morning, marking the end for these old girls. Over the last 25 years, these aircraft have been the backbone of Loganair’s island and highland’s operations. Its a shame to see these go, as I loved how loud they were when taking off. These will likely end up being scrapped or be converted into freighters.
