How to sound like a French native: introduce yourself without saying ‘je m’appelle’ (my name is) when you meet someone for the first time! French people don’t usually say ‘my name is…’ They typically greet first (with “bonjour”, for example) and then say their name directly WITHOUT the “je m’appelle”! 🙅‍♀️ Here are some of the ways you can greet someone in 🇫🇷French: - Bonjour: hello - Bonsoir: good evening - Salut: hi/hello/hey (informal) - Coucou: hey (informal) - Enchanté.e: nice to meet you // Note: the “.e” is a feature of inclusive writing (🇫🇷l’écriture inclusive) and is a way to include all genders - Moi c’est [your name]: an alternative to ‘je m’appelle…’ usually said after someone already introduced themselves 💬What other French etiquette are you interested in learning?
