Over-training is one of the most common mistakes I see, so let's talk about that. I usually just train my dogs 5-10 minutes intense work 5-6 days a week, once or twice per day. Not because I can't find time for more, but because I find it much more effective. I like to keep my sessions short, focused, sharp with motivation on top. I want to make sure the dogs are improving. 5-10 minutes doesn't sound like a lot, but I want my dogs to be fully focused the whole session. I train a lot of other things that doesn't require full focus as well (environmental training, impulse control, conditioning etc) but I usually keep my daily obedience sessions short. If I'm training for IGP trial or something that requires longer focus, I'm building the dog a bit different. But my point here is that you don't have to train your dog for hours every day to make it work. It's all in how you train it. This doesn't mean that my dogs are only worked 5-10 minutes per day, of course they get much more exercise. Also, it doesn't mean that you should get a high driven dog just because you can squeeze in 5-10 minutes of training every day. They need more than that! #DogTraining #dogtrainingtips #dogtrainingadvice #malinois #belgianshepherd #denmark #hundetræning #belgiskhyrdehund #dogsport #dogobedience #obediencetips #obedienceadvice #balanceddogtraining
