Cadaqués might just be my new favourite place in Spain. If you’re heading to Barcelona, I’d strongly recommend extend your stay and visiting this beautiful coastal town. There’s an excellent food scene (something that can sometimes be lacking in historic seaside destinations), buzzy nightlife and beaches. Eat at Michelin guide Compartir, SET, Gula and Carpe Diem, and grab drinks until the early hours at Brown Sugar. Spend your days on a boat exploring the Cap de Creus peninsula, checking out Salvador Dali’s former house, or swimming in the bright blue water along the shoreline. You can get a bus from Barcelona in around 3 hours, or hire a car and drive it in 2. A word of warning if you don’t like heights (I hate them), the drive is through mountains with quite sheer drops on the side.
