Lord Baltimore Hotel is not kidding when they claim to be among the most haunted hotels in the country. With decades of multi-faceted events and notable visits, it is far from a stretch to imagine its paranormal activity and hundreds of guest and employee experiences reinforce it. Established in 1928, the hotel endured much of rough beginning - the prohibition and the Great Depression, neither without leaving a mark on its timeline. During the years of the depression, tried Baltimore residents would look to the tallest building in their city to escape the financial pressure of the time. In this period, there were over twenty documented deaths. Today, some claim to witness the phantom flailing and screaming of these individuals leaping from the structure, even alerting authorities before realizing these are residual terrors from nearly a century ago. Now to the Prohibition. In 2014, during renovation, newly settled owners discovered a secret off of the Versailles ballroom. A hidden door within the wall led to a previously forgotten room full of tarnished silverware and other antique pieces - forgotten relics of an authentic former speakeasy. They soon learned that corruption of the local police who looked to protect LB’s secret would alert them to prevent a successful raid of their libations. On short notice, the hidden parties would vanish looking up to a hole in the ceiling that led to a hidden room, accessible only by ladder. What was once a lively lounge, full of the warmth of jazz, the smell of tobacco and intensely proofed spirits had been successful concealed for yet one more evening. As you could imagine, the same hints linger today - the scent of smoke and cigar embers complimented by an aroma of whiskey, bourbon or perhaps gin, if you prefer and the sounds of lively dancing and accompanying music. Perhaps you intended to find your room on the seventh floor and were certain you selected the correct option after stepping into the historic LB elevator…but you now have somehow found the door opened to the most haunted floor in the entire hotel: the 19th floor. #hauntedbaltimore #hauntedhotel #hauntedhistory #hauntedmaryland #ghoststory #spookyhistory #fyp
