Gibralfaro Castle and the Alcazaba are two stunning historical sights and must-see places in Málaga! 🇪🇸 The castle (which is more like a fortress) is located on top of the Gibralfaro Hill and it was built to protect the Alcazaba at the bottom of the hill. The Alcazaba is a fortified palace constructed by the Muslims during their occupation of the Iberian Peninsula. It was the residence of the governor and it is considered to be one of the most beautiful fortified palaces in Spain. ✨ Single tickets are €3.50 or you can buy a combined ticket to visit both places for €5.50 which is valid for two days. Cadaqués might just be my new favourite place in Spain. If you’re heading to Barcelona, I’d strongly recommend extend your stay and visiting this beautiful coastal town. There’s an excellent food scene (something that can sometimes be lacking in historic seaside destinations), buzzy nightlife and beaches. Eat at Michelin guide Compartir, SET, Gula and Carpe Diem, and grab drinks until the early hours at Brown Sugar. Spend your days on a boat exploring the Cap de Creus peninsula, checking out Salvador Dali’s former house, or swimming in the bright blue water along the shoreline. You can get a bus from Barcelona in around 3 hours, or hire a car and drive it in 2. A word of warning if you don’t like heights (I hate them), the drive is through mountains with quite sheer drops on the side.
